Both the Iola Twilight and Tahquamenon Falls snowshoe races organized by Great Lakes Endurance are part of the midwest’s premier snowshoe series:  The Braveheart.  2013 is the fourth year for the Braveheart Series.   Scoring is done based upon participation, not overall results.  The whole idea is to increase participation in  midwest snowshoe racing and build comaraderie among snowshoers.

Snowshoe racing has always attracted vigorous winter athletes wanting a challenge and adventure, butincreasingly it is attracting individuals who participate for the opportunity to obtain high quality outdoor exercise in some beautiful venues.  Great Lakes Endurance shares this passion.  We have two snowshoe events, both in remarkably beautiful venues.  The Iola event is also unique because it isa night time race - we think the only one of its kind in the world.  Tahquamenon Falls, located in the Eastern Upper Peninsula and home to the second largest waterfalls east of the Mississippi.  The Tahquamenon Falls course also travels through a grove of ancient virgin white pines.  There is no fee to participate in the Braveheart Series.  Runners must register for each race individually.  To participate in the series, racers contact Dave Sykora at (This email address is being protected from spambots.
